Garden consultations

If you just need some advice and suggestions, but not a full design, we offer an on site consultation service including a written garden report.

Full garden and landscape design

Packaged to meet your needs whether for a part of your garden or the whole site.

INITIAL CONSULTATION:  To assess the initial feasibility and advise you on a realistic budget for what you are looking for.  We will follow up this consultation with a quote for the survey and outline design.

Site SurveysSITE SURVEY:  All gardens need to be surveyed so that a scaled plan can be drawn up showing the boundary positions and positions of trees etc.

We regularly carry out the survey ourselves but also engage specialist surveying companies if the site is particularly large or the levels complex.

OUTLINE DESIGN:  The creative stage where ideas and requirements are crafted into plans and 3D models (digital). It’s usually a 2 stage process so that the initial concept ideas can be reviewed and agreed.

Detailed lighting plansDETAILED DESIGN:  The nitty, gritty detail which includes things like the depth of foundation for a retaining wall, the type of drainage, the capacity of the soakaway, the lighting plan etc. The construction details along with the specification (standard of quality) form part of the tender pack for landscape contractors to quote

You can review guidelines on professional fees in Engaging a Garden Designer produced by The Society of Garden Designers

PLANTING PLAN:   This is often included within the Detailed Design but can also be carried out as a later phase

SITE INSPECTIONS: We do not project manage or supervise the build work (this is the role of the contractor) the role of the designer during build stage is to drive the aesthetic vision, provide a single point of contact for client and contractor for query resolution and to manage any changes and variations.

SOURCING:  We have access to a wide range of suppliers of garden furniture, containers, statues and sculpture etc. and can source these at competitive prices

Our terms of engagement can be accessed on the footer below.

Planting advice & planting schemes

If you’re looking for a new or rejuvenated border we can offer advice on a consultancy basis e.g. what plants would be suitable or perhaps what’s past its best. Or we can offer a planting service where we would review a planting scheme with you and carry out the planting for you.

We also create soft landscaping schemes for development projects where local authority approval is required
